They better have given this pizza delivery man the biggest tip of 2026 after he walked right past a bear to deliver their pie to the front door.
Humans and bears do their best to coexist, and those living in areas that could be considered “bear country” know that all too well. It’s estimated that 340,000 bears live in the United States, and in certain parts of the country, residents have to always be on alert and keep an eye out for bears. Black bears make up most of that total number (around 300,000), and one place where you are likely to see them is in California.
In fact, the only species of bear that lives in the “Golden State” is the black bear.
Roughly 50,000 to 70,000 black bears call California home, and it looks like one of those tens of thousands of bears really enjoys a good slice of pizza… or at least the smell of it anyways. Some California residents are going viral because they filmed their pizza delivery man as he walked up to their door.
What was so special about the Fontana Pizza Co. delivery driver? Well, one could say his bravery. Maybe even his calmness under pressure. Or to just come straight out and say it: His total disregard for a seemingly hungry black bear that was sitting in the California front yard.
Yeah, when the guy got to the house that the pizza was ordered to, there was a younger bear just posted up in the yard. Like an absolute madman, he got out of his car, proceeded to remove the pizzas from the vehicle as well, and then walked right up to the front door like there wasn’t a wild animal mere feet away from him.
It’s usually advised to stay at least 100 yards away from bears. If you have hot, freshly baked pizzas in your hands, that safety buffer should extend to… I don’t know, 500 yards? One whole mile? The one thing that can make a bear aggressive is food, and this delivery guy wasn’t worried at all.
The caption on the video summed it up quite nicely:
“Our pizza delivery man really went above and beyond.”
Alright… above and beyond is an understatement.
That man risked his life – with a smile on his face – to make sure that the Californians got their pizza. It’s one of the craziest videos I’ve ever seen. And not only that, the guy then walked right back to his car while the bear was still there. If I were that delivery driver, I would have been really pushing to get inside that house, as awkward as that may have been.
But it’s the least the homeowners could have done, besides giving that guy a huge, well deserved tip. Social media is certainly hoping the driver got paid well… they can’t believe how calm and cool the delivery man stayed during his close encounter:

“Give that man a big a** tip.”

“Why is the delivery man so unfazed?”
“I don’t think I’d feel right with letting the delivery man walking back to his car with that bear there. Come in bro have a slice. Thankfully everything worked out.”
