A collaboration I never knew I needed.
Once again, Lana Del Rey is making her presence known on the country music scene. From duets with Megan Moroney to Paul Cauthen, she is now marking off a duet with Jelly Roll on her list of duet partners, although, on a Lynyrd Skynyrd classic.

Over the weekend, during Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, Jelly Roll teamed up with Lana Del Rey to sing the National Anthem of Alabama: “Sweet Home Alabama.” The Lynyrd Skynyrd classic is a guaranteed cover to get the crowd going, and while in Alabama, it’s even more electric.
The two are having a blast on stage with a full choir in the background. When Lana Del Rey jumps in to sing her first verse, she is a little shaky about the words, but perhaps that was intentional. It seems like she changed them to read something like “I hope you all will remember that in the end, they really did, squash that beef into the ground.” It also seems like she changed the second verse too, but it’s hard to make out what she replaces the “Now, we all did what we could do” line with.
Jelly Roll busts a move alongside her, and when the two join forces to sing the chorus, they take the Hangout Fest crowd to church.
During the bridge, Lana Del Rey signals to the band to break it down, and the band pars back the melody, allowing their harmonies to shine as they sing together. As the music builds back up, the audience is roaring, and the atmosphere seems as though it is filled with nothing but good vibes. The two embraced each other on stage as Jelly Roll yelled into the microphone for the audience to give it up for Lana.
Lana then says to the crowd:
“Ladies and gentlemen you will see me around your town the next three days, singing with everyone else. I am so grateful for you. I love you so much.”
She then says a few more words about how this has been a dream of hers since she was 16, and if fans stick with her, she will impact country music. At this rate, I wholeheartedly believe her. She is making strides to be present at festivals with some of the biggest names in the industry and making connections with fellow country music fans.
I can’t wait to see what is in store for her country album, Lasso.
