Charles Barkley always speaks his truth.
It doesn’t matter if he’s talking about basketball, politics, or in this case, solar eclipses. Chuck will never shy away from telling you how he really feels, even if it hurts some people’s feelings. That’s one of the biggest reasons why he’s become such a beloved figure in his post-basketball career in media.
However, I’ve got a feeling that Sir Charles will ruffle some feathers with this hot take on the solar eclipse, which took place back on April 8th. The “once-in-a-lifetime event” (which has happened twice in the past 7 years) drew in tourists to the path of totality from all across the country, and some people were all about the natural phenomenon (especially one Texas weather-woman).
Charles Barkley couldn’t have cared less, and has made sure to voice his opinion on the matter any chance he’s gotten. He first talked about his disappointment of the solar eclipse on NBA on TNT, and most recently covered the subject again as a guest on The Pat McAfee Show.
Pat and the rest of the crew opened up the Charles interview by asking the “Round Mound of Rebound” what he thought about all the people that geeked out over the eclipse, and Barkley didn’t take long to get right into his fiery response:
“A bunch of f**king losers man. I can understand if you’re like a little kid or something, but these adults talking about they were going through something, I said ‘what a bunch of f**king losers.’ Come on man.
If you want to do that with a kid or something, or science teacher wants to take their class out, but if you’re a grown ass person and built your whole day around the eclipse, you’re a damn loser.”
As you might imagine, that answer had most of The Pat McAfee Show laughing until tears came out of their eyes. It was a completely unhinged rant against people that enjoyed the solar eclipse, but above all else, it was damn funny.
