Scott Eastwood To Star In ‘Wind River’ Sequel, But Taylor Sheridan & Jeremy Renner Won’t Be Involved

The busiest man in showbusiness won’t be taking on another project, even though he had a hand in creating it.

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is currently working on the series finale of Yellowstone, the second season of 1923, the 3rd season of Mayor Of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lioness, Land Man, Bass Reeves, 1944, some kind of modern day Yellowstone spinoff, and Empire Of The Summer Moon… when does the man sleep?

And it appears that his busy schedule will leave him little time to work on a Wind River sequel. Wind River, for my money, is Sheridan’s best film. I know people love Sicario, I know Hell Or High Water got the Oscar nomination, but give me Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen in Wind River every day of the week.

According to Screen Rant, a sequel is on the way titled Wind River: The Next Chapter, and the film reportedly has nothing to do with Sheridan. Kari Skogland, who has directed episodes of The Walking Dead, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will direct the sequel, with Patrick Massett and John Zinman handling the script.

Renner and Olsen are nowhere to be found on the cast list, but Gil Birmingham and Martin Sensmeier will reprise their roles. The film will also star Jason Clarke, Scott Eastwood, Chaske Spencer, Alan Ruck, Kali Reis, and Tatanka Means.

The plot is described as:

“The FBI enlists the aid of Chip Hanson, a newly minted tracker for the U.S. Fish & Game, to solve a series of ritualistic murders on the reservation he calls home.”

With no Sheridan and no Renner, I have to say… I’m still intrigued.

Bring it on.
