Oliver Anthony Announces Debut Studio Album ‘Hymnal Of A Troubled Man’s Mind’

An album is coming from the “Rich Men North Of Richmond” singer.

Oliver Anthony took to social media this morning to announce his debut album. Not only is the debut album announcement here, but the album is dropping SOON… in two days soon.

There is no better way to celebrate Easter Sunday than firing this one up at brunch after church. The album, Hymnal of a Troubled Man’s Mind, continues the message Anthony has preached since his viral moment last year. Living off the grid and suffering from his mental health, he found refuge in songwriting and sharing his struggles through his lyrics while also finding comfort in his spirituality. I couldn’t think of a better album title.

“Hymnal of a Troubled Man’s Mind is the story of my life from 2013 until 2023. It is intended for the listener to sit down in a quiet place, undistracted and just listen beginning to end. Every lyric, every note, and every everything is intentionally placed.

This album represents the most pure and transparent view inside my heart and soul that I could offer. While Richmond was the song that got my name out in the public, these songs represent the true foundation of the music that got me through life up until now.”

Anthony has had his life turn completely upside down after his mega-viral song, “Rich Men North Of Richmond,” put him on the map. People could not get enough of the song, gathering at farmer’s markets and anywhere in between to hear his voice. While at the time Anthony said he did not intend on touring, he changed his tune, now taking stages across the globe.

“In sort of a beautiful and crazy way, nearly all the songs that people listen to outside of the RadioWv session from August of 2023 are those Android recordings I recorded almost immediately after writing each song in 2022-2023.

I felt that it was my responsibility to give a handful of my early written songs the completion they deserve. Now, I can begin releasing my most recent work, without feeling like I skipped an important step.”

While Anthony’s YouTube channel offers a wide song selection, he mentioned early on that many of those were just phone recordings so he could have something to post, acknowledging that the quality might not be stellar. However, his songwriting captured the hearts of fans, and they began demanding more.

While he notes that many of his released songs are older, given the weight of those lyrics, I can only imagine what is in store for his newer material. To conclude this announcement, he also commented that this album is just the beginning of new material he will be releasing this year.

“I appreciate everyone’s patience up until this point. I’ve gotten a lot of stuff done the last three or four months. Time for me to go back to focusing on getting new music out. Draven from Radio WV is coming down at the beginning of April to film the next series of brand-new stuff.

You will be getting this album, and a lot more, in a short period of time.”

There is lots of new stuff coming our way, and I am here for it. Two days until we get to hear studio cuts of these songs…let the countdown begin.
