It might look barbaric to mow down a group of wild pigs, but they are a HUGE problem across the United States. They are a massive problem throughout a number of places in the country, but in Texas alone, these hogs do so much damage that they cost farmers and folks an estimated 1 billion dollars. Yes, that’s BILLION with a “B.”

They destroy farmland, root up the soil, pollute water systems, damage wooded areas, prey on other animals… they’re an invasive pain and there is A LOT of them. The only real solution to feral hogs is hunting. They reproduce VERY quickly, so the best bet is to eliminate as many as possible as quickly as possible.

That leads to some interesting and rather, action-packed, hog hunts.

These guys down in Texas are taking this seriously, and it can often times look like a warzone as you watch and listen to this video. This video explains why they do what they do and what their goal is the best.

“Feral hogs are a non-native and invasive species in Texas. They may be hunted by any legal methods day or night. There are no seasons. No bag limits.

Our goal is to eradicate as many hogs as we can in the most efficient way possible. We have a limited amount of time between harvest and planting season to clear the hogs out of the fields before the crops get to tale and we can no longer get to them.”

They certainly got to them. Everywhere you look there’s a gun firing and a hog dropping.

Night vision, powerful rifles and a whole lot of prey to take down… it looks like a good time and one that is extremely important for conservation.
