The Internet (Again) Falls For Fake Story Saying Jason Aldean & Kid Rock Canceled New York Concert To Support Donald Trump

Come on people, how many times are we going to go through this.

If you’ve been on country music X (formerly called Twitter), you’ve probably seen the boomer memes and posts that are blowing up right now involving Jason Aldean, Kid Rock and a tour titled “You Can’t Cancel America”.

If you happened to miss them, here’s a taste of what’s going on.

There’s just one problem with all of this… Jason Aldean and Kid Rock were never scheduled to play in New York. There is no tour titled “You Can’t Cancel America.”

Once again, people have been duped by the Dunning-Kruger Times, a satirical website that makes up fake stories in the hopes that someone will read them, post them to social media, and they will go viral, as they have time and time again, especially in the country music space.

Remember the story of Garth Brooks being booed off stage and Hank Williams Jr. saying he “wouldn’t be caught dead on stage with Garth Brooks” because he was too woke?

Yep, they were Dunning-Kruger products as well.

This one is twice as nice though because both sides of the political aisle are reacting violently to it. The right is lauding the “decision” to stand with former president Trump after a New York court leveed a $355 million fraud judgement against him. The left is calling out the hypocrisy in the “decision” of canceling a show on a tour saying named for not canceling things.

It’s a slew of pure gold via the partisan rattled brains of many, many people.

Once again, this is a great example of why you need to do at least a tiny amount of research before falling head over heels for a story that fits your worldview just a bit too perfectly. But then again, half of the internet is a cesspool of morons, at least the most vocal part of it, so I guess this is just par for the course…

Rock The Country Tour

However, Kid Rock and Jason Aldean WILL be touring together… just not in New York. Similar to Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival, Jason Aldean and Kid Rock are set to headline all seven Rock The Country stops, with a different mix of artists in support in each location.

Other supporting artists include: Miranda Lambert, Hank Williams Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd, Koe Wetzel, Brantley Gilbert, Travis Tritt, Lee Brice, Nelly, Warren Zeiders, Big and Rich ft. Gretchen Wilson, Randy Houser, Uncle Kracker, Tyler Farr, Pecos & the Rooftops, Kolby Cooper, Colt Ford, Elvie Shane, Treaty Oak Revival, Gavin Adcock, Sadie Bass & Dee Jay Silver.

Kid Rock shared:

“Can’t wait to bring you Rock the Country. A music festival like no other for hard working folks who love this country!”

Once again, this is a great example of why you need to do at least a tiny amount of research before falling head over heels for a story that fits your worldview just a bit too perfectly. But then again, half of the internet is a cesspool of morons so… I guess this is par for the course.
