Ed Orgeron. LEGEND.

It’s still hard to believe that its been over two years since Coach O left football, after he and LSU decided to mutually part ways. Considering Coach O is one of the best personalities in all of college football, it just doesn’t feel the same without him on the sidelines every Saturday.

From his Louisiana bayou dialect, to his fiery personality, college football is better with him in it. And of course, he left a major mark on the players he coached over his extensive football coaching career.

And one of those players? Former star USC quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Orgeron coached at USC from 2010 to 2013, so Sanchez spent a brief amount of time with the man during his time at USC. Sanchez made a recent appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast, where he discussed what it was like playing under Coach O back in the day.

That’s when he gave his best Coach O impression, talking in his distinct voice:

Let me tell ya, you gonna come to SC you gonna be the quarterback. Now, we gone win the Rose Bowl, you gonna stand up on the ladder, hold the sword, and after the game I’m gonna make you some gumbo.”

Needless to say, the impression was pretty spot on.

Laughing, he said:

“I looked at my dad and said, ‘what the hell is gumbo?'”

Sanchez also discussed Coach O’s coaching style too, which was nothing short of hardcore:

“He was such an intense coach, man. He didn’t mess around. I mean he would start ever year, with just like ‘hey I’m gonna coach you guys hard, and if anybody’s got a problem with it, he’d just rip off his shirt, ‘we can fight right now.’ … And you’re just like ‘woah, I’m not fighting him.'”

One of a kind… we need more Coach O content like this.
