Another Taylor Sheridan project coming to a screen near you.

Just announced Taylor Sheridan and his Bosque Ranch have won the bid for that screen adaptation of S.C Gwynne’s book Empire of the Summer Moon: Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History.

As Sheridan has proven time and time again, he is THE man for films and TV shows highlighting the history of the West as it was settled and the faces that shape the stories and events we look back on today.

“I can’t think of anyone better qualified to bring ‘Empire of the Summer Moon’ to the screen than Taylor Sheridan. He has a deep and nuanced understanding of both the myth and reality of the Old West. I am thrilled that he is undertaking this project.”

The author of the book told Deadline.

Empire Of The Summer Moon will detail the four-decade struggle between the Comanche Tribe (the most powerful in American history) and the white settlers who were attempting to control the West. The tribe’s leader, Quanah, was one of the most powerful, and the story details the struggles the tribe faced and how they fought to protect their land, rights, and traditions.

Sheridan plans to film at his Bosque Ranch, near the Brazos River. Sheridan will also enlist production help from Jenny Wood, who was named President of the ranch in 2022.

Fans were quick to fill Twitter (X) with excitement from this announcement, knowing that Sheridan will do a knockout job.

“Taylor Sheridan doesn’t miss. He did a fantastic job with his film ‘Wind River’ & everything I’ve seen.”

“Empire of the Summer Moon is an INCREDIBLE book. I’m glad the story will be brought to life.”

“One of my favorite books. Couldn’t have asked for a better match to adapt it.”

“Really need a good historical drama movie. I am in.”

“This is awesome! That’s one of my favorite books.”

“Dude found his niche for sure.”

“Cinema is back.”

At this time, there are no other details regarding the project, but I am keeping my eyes peeled and ears open for more news on this one.
