Man, I still can’t stress enough how great it feels to see the Turnpike Troubadours back on stage.

After taking a hiatus for nearly three years, the band is back together and as good as ever, playing sold out shows left and right for the past two years. Not to mention, their latest album A Cat in the Rain was a personal favorite of ours here at Whiskey Riff in 2023.

And as Turnpike continues their reign as one of the top bands in all of independent country music, the group had the opportunity to show off their stuff on one of the biggest platforms out there.

The band made their late-night television debut last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, playing their smash hit song “Mean Old Sun” off A Cat in the Rain.

There’s just something about watching Evan Felker and the boys getting up on stage in front of a national audience that is a special sight to see. The Oklahoma outfit has been building something special over the past two decades, and it’s incredible to see them garner the national attention they deserve.

From the haunting vocals of Felker, to the banjo from Hank Early and the fiddle from Kyle Nix, this was another killer performance by the Turnpike Troubadours if I must say so myself.
