Bison Knocks Wolf Out Cold With Powerful Kick To The Head

Bison wolf attack

The largest animal around kicking you square in the jaw doesn’t sound like a good time.

Bison can weigh up to 2,000 pounds and stand over 6 feet tall at the shoulder. Bison are known for their strength and endurance, and their size makes that makes them the largest mammal in North America. Just think about the kind of force that’s behind one of those kicks.

Wolves on the other hand, are in the canine family and are about the same size as a very large dog. The average weight of a wolf is between 70 and 120 pounds.

Known for their hunting abilities and their ability to take down large prey when hunting in packs, wolves generally like to find a weak or injured bison that is separated from the herd. Then work together to separate the bison from the rest of the herd, isolating it and making it easier to attack.

The wolves will then circle around the bison, taking turns to nip at it in attempt to take it down. Once down, it’s pretty much game over as all the wolves join in, picking apart the downed animal piece by piece.

However, due to their relative small size compared to the likes of a bison or a grizzly bear, wolves need to be precise in their attack… otherwise, it could go real bad, real fast.

This wolf is seen running with its pack trying to catch up to a herd of bison. As they reach the back of the herd this wolf reaches out to have a nip at the bison’s backside. After snatching a chunk of flesh, it ends up taking a direct kick to the jaw sending its head straight up and back.

I mean, this ol’ fluffy cow squared him up perfectly, folding him in half like a cheap lawn chair. And while we don’t know how it all turned out, I think it’s safe to say that this poor wolf is critically, if not fatally, injured from that defensive strike.

That’s just too much power from an animal that big.
