Morgan Wallen absolutely dominated the year-end charts this year.
Not only did he have the most-streamed song on both Apple and Spotify, but he earned 5 of the top 10 spots on the year-end Billboard Country Streaming chart (including the top spot with “Last Night”) and 4 of the top 10 spots on the Hot Country chart.
His One Thing At A Time double album was also the top country album on the charts – right ahead of his Dangerous: The Double Album, which came in at #2 even though it was released back in 2021.
Oh, and he also had the highest-grossing country tour of the year by a pretty wide margin.
So when Spotify Wrapped dropped yesterday, you know that Morgan was going to be at the top of the list for a lot of people.
Of course, Morgan’s also pretty controversial – not only for his pop-leaning music, but also after his racial slur incident a couple of years ago. So as people took to social media to share their Spotify Wrapped, many also took to Twitter to shame anybody who had Morgan in their year-end list of most listened to artists.
Everytime I see Morgan Wallen in someone’s top 5 on wrapped 😅 pic.twitter.com/a0yZHvi3Zy

Shocked but not surprised how many people have no problem with Morgan Wallen being on their Spotify Wrapped despite being racist and profiting off of it

Of course there were plenty of people who weren’t ashamed to have Morgan on their year-end lists:
“noooo you can’t have morgan wallen in your spotify wrapped. that’s embarrassing.”
shut up bitch, i am enjoying easily digestible pop music bathed in the country twang that reminds me of my blue collar upbringing and the nostalgia that comes with having small town roots

Morgan is one of the biggest, and most streamed, artists in the world right now. Despite the vocal opposition on social media, he’s having tons of success and doing streams that most artists could only dream of because of his broad appeal to fans both within and on the outskirts of country music.
Although personally, I think everybody should be embarrassed if your Spotify Wrapped didn’t look like this:
