When Luke Combs was asked last year who was the biggest artist in country music, he said it was either himself or Morgan Wallen.
And honestly, that’s a pretty fair assessment. The two have both been monsters on the charts with multiple #1s over the past year, and they’ve both been on massive sold-out stadium tours that have taken them all over the world.
But when it comes to the numbers, one of them blew all the other country music tours out of the water.
Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time tour came in at the top of Billboard Boxscore‘s year end list of the top country tours, raking in a mind-boggling $230 million in 2023.
With 44 shows, Morgan’s tour brought in a total attendance of 1,325,792, for an average of over 30,000 people at each show on the tour.
In second place was Luke Combs, whose world tour brought in $133 million, nearly $100 million less than Morgan’s tour. But Luke actually drew in more fans with fewer shows: Luke only performed 42 shows on his tour, yet brought in 1.4 million fans, for an average of nearly 34,000 per show.
The most impressive showing may be the artist in third place though. While George Strait only played 11 shows, a quarter of what Luke and Morgan performed, he still managed to rake in nearly as much as Luke with $107 million.
Morgan’s chart-topping reign wasn’t only on the road: He also earned 5 of the top 10 spots on the year-end Billboard Country Streaming chart (including the top spot with “Last Night”) and 4 of the top 10 spots on the Hot Country chart. His One Thing At A Time double album was also the top country album on the charts – right ahead of his Dangerous: The Double Album, which came in at #2 even though it was released back in 2021.
Just absolute domination from Morgan Wallen right now, by pretty much any metric you want to use.
