Extending his own record.

Chris Stapleton takes home his SEVENTH Male Vocalist of the Year Award, breaking his own record. It’s hard to hold anyone to his standard because he IS the standard.

While we all know that he is more than deserving of the award because of his consistently impeccable vocals, Stapleton steps up to the microphone, giving one of the most humble acceptance speeches. From the kind words he says, you know that he is grateful to be there, but he could also go without winning one award and be content.

He makes music because it moves him, and he wants to relate to his audience. Not because he wants to take home award after award.

“Thank you, thank you, CMA. I mean, every single one of these guys in this category deserves this award.

I have won a couple of these, and I’m always shocked when I win one. And I’m humbled again tonight to stay in such a wonderful crowd of people.”

He then shares a sweet, sweet thank you to his wife. You can practically hear the crowd say “awww” during that part of his speech.

“I’m so thankful to get to continue to be a part of the country music community. I’m really, really grateful that you let me do this and keep on doing this.”

He also dedicated it to late friend and SteelDrivers collaborator, Mike Henderson.

While I would have loved to see Stapleton also take home Entertainer of the Year… one thing is for sure. Country music loves this man regardless of the number of awards to his name.

Check out his incredible performances throughout the awards show tonight as well.
