We now know have at least a glimpse into the mind of the 28-year old who opened fire on the Covenant School in Nashville this past March, killing three students and three adults before being shot and killed by police.
The shooter was Nashville native Audrey Hale, who identified as transgender and went by the name Aiden. And in the aftermath of the shooting, it was revealed that Hale had left behind writings that may contain clues as to her motives behind the shooting.
However, the release of the shooter’s manifesto was blocked by a judge after parents and the school opposed the writings becoming public.
And Metro Nashville Police Department also released a statement announcing an investigation shortly after the pages were leaked:
“The MNPD is in communication with the Metropolitan Department of Law as an investigation, begun this morning, continues into the dissemination of three of photographs of writings during an online discussion about Covenant school.
The photographs are not MNPD crime scene images.
The police department has been in contact with a representative of Covenant families. Police department counselors are available to assist them in coping with the emotional trauma caused by the dissemination.”
But country singer John Rich is questioning why so many are fighting the release of the documents.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Rich said:
“The Nashville woke are all flipping out tonight on the local news because three pages of the Covenant mass killer’s manifesto were leaked online. Why do they want to hide the truth from us? There’s a reason.”
The Nashville woke are all flipping out tonight on the local news because three pages of the Covenant mass killer's manifesto were leaked online. Why do they want to hide the truth from us? There's a reason.
In a statement on NewsChannel 5, Covenant School parent Brent Leatherwood blasted the person responsible for leaking the documents:
“You’re a viper. You’re a member of the law enforcement community, and you’ve released evidence in our most vulnerable moment.
You’ve now allowed this woman to terrorize our family with bullets and to terrorize us with words from the grave. How could you? What kind of a person does this?”
The case regarding whether the rest of the manifesto will be released is still pending in front of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. It’s not known at this time how many more pages there are, but Nashville reporter Phil Williams said that sources have told him that the leaked pages are “misleading.”
Multiple sources have told me that the selective leak of three pages of the #CovenantSchool shooting “manifesto” is EXTREMELY misleading. People who have read the whole thing say “there’s something in there for everybody.” Another, “She hated everybody.”
