In case you haven’t heard, the highly anticipated Martin Scorsese film Killers of the Flower Moon is officially out.

I mean c’mon, with a cast starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Brendan Fraser, Jesse Plemons, along with some country singers making their way into the cast as well, names like Sturgill Simpson, Randy Houser, and Jason Isbell, this one is a can’t miss.

But speaking of Leonardo DiCaprio, there was one scene in the movie where the famed actor had to take a brutal beating…

And by brutal beating, I mean spanking.

WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS

In the movie, DiCaprio’s character Ernest Burkhardt marries wealthy Osage tribe member Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), at the urging of his uncle William Hale (Robert De Niro).

Of course, this is part of a master plan to take out dozens of members of the Osage family in an effort to take ownership of their land filled with valuable oil.

However, when Burkhardt doesn’t fully follow through, Hale takes him into a back room and brutally whips him with a wooden paddle.

In an interview with Insider, cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto said the scene wasn’t in the original script:

“I don’t think that was in the first script. That was something that was added, and it’s shocking in the film.”

He also said that although the scene was real, DiCaprio was sure to wear enough padding on his a** to not feel it as much:

“I do remember doing them quite a few times and thinking, ‘Oh, that must hurt.’ There was some padding on (DiCaprio’s) butt. But you could tell De Niro was really hitting him.”

Prieto also said that DiCaprio was willing to do anything for the movie.

So, I guess for all of the movie scenes where someone is getting whipped, spanked, etc., we now know that they might have a little reinforcement down there to make it not hurt as much.
