Don’t mess with this guy…

Walruses are some of the coolest creatures out there. Seeing one int he wild is enough to make for a good day, but you have to venture into some pretty remote places to see them.

These creatures survive in the harshest environments, often living where there’s a ton of ice. The only places you can see them are Alaska, parts of Canada, Russia, Greenland, and some other article islands… we’re talking basically the North Pole.

But they are built for that environment. They grow huge, reaching up to 1.5 tons in weight. That is surely enough blubber to keep them warm in the frigid waters they inhabit.

These beasts are known to be aggressive, especially when it comes to protecting their kids. They use their size to scoot around and fend off anything they can, even polar bears. Their main defense is the massive tusks that grow out of their mouth like fangs. They can grow up to 3 feet long.

The tusk help them climb onto ice, break breathing holes, hunt and fend of predators… for being big, fat and slow, massive spikes sticking out of your face sure level the playing field.

And this walrus showed exactly what those tusks can do.

A boat crew is trying to haul their inflatable dingy back onboard when out of nowhere, a walrus jumps up and drives his tusks as deep as he can right into the inflatable part of the boat.

I don’t think they will be patching that one up…

What a jump, too. And the tusk aim to end it off? For weighing over 2,000 pounds, these things sure as more agile than you’d think.

If you get the chance to do some walrus watching, go for it… you never know what you might see.
