Ya can’t get them all…
Nothing beats hunting some turkey… it is as a thrilling as bird hunting can get. Usually, turkey hunting involves hours of scouting followed by hours of sitting hoping to outsmart a tom by becoming one with the trees and sounding like a rival moving in on his area.
When the toms move into the call they often put on a full display, ruffing out their feathers and fanning their tail. They use this to show aggression to other toms and to draw in the females.
That moment with a bird coming right for your call is unmatched, with truly no other hunts like it.
And if you get lucky, it comes with a good reward in the form a nice sized and great tasting bird. Toms can reach 25 pounds, providing a very good meal or two for the family.
Hunting these birds often comes with excitement like all hunting does.
But let’s just make sure we are using the guns right…
This kid is seen sneaking up on a couple of toms in a field.
He pulls up to fire, lines it up and lets it rip.
Down he goes! The kid that is.
The gun kicks back, pops him in the jaw and drops him to the ground as his older brother (I assume) just laughs from the truck. Apparently, both barrels went off and that was the reason for the unexpected jolt, but a hilarious moment nonetheless.
“He got 2 magnum loads at once, gun shot both barrels.”
The man just lays there in a pile as the turkeys scatter.
