‘Sunday Night Football’ Returns With Carrie Underwood Kicking Things Off Last Night

Carrie Underwood is back for her 11th season singing the iconic Sunday Night Football theme song.

Last night, she helped kick off (pun very much intended) NBC’s 2023 NFL season of SNF, as the Dallas Cowboys beat the hell outta their NFC East foe the New York Giants in a 40-0 shutout at MetLife Stadium during the prime time slot.

“Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” was actually filmed on set of her ongoing Las Vegas REFLECTION residency this year, and per the usual, Carrie crushed it.

And as is the norm with the SNF opener, the video itself will look a bit different each weekend depending on the game’s location and what the matchup is. In addition, the lyrics will change slightly depending on the teams featured that week.

In the new music video, you of course see shots of players from both teams playing last night with footage from last season, and possibly my favorite part, Carrie even takes over for a drum solo towards the end, which was a fun addition to this year’s song and certainly shows off her rock and roll side.

Carrie says she loved shooting in Vegas for SNF and, like most of us, can’t wait for football season:

“Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a fresh, exciting visual concept that really gave us a chance to play.

I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, and can’t wait for another season of football!”

Here she is singin’ her heart out and welcoming football back into our lives again… a beautiful sight to see:
