Theo Von Gets The Backstory On Mississippi State Record Gator: “This Some Damn BDSM Sh*t”

Just last week, a group of alligator hunters from Mississippi bagged a 14 foot, 800 pound state record monster in the Yazoo River, and now we get to hear a bit more of the backstory thanks to the Rat King himself, Theo Von.

On a recent episode of his podcast, This Past Weekend, Theo invited Joey Clark, one of the members of the hunting squad, to call in and they got to talking about what exactly went down, with Theo chipping in some awesome one-liners and questions that make you scratch your head and laugh out loud at the same time.

Joey laid out the story pretty much how we heard it last time, with the group passing on around 20-30 gators in the search for a giant, which they located around 9pm. They were able to get one hook in the gator around 9:30, but it took another half hour or so to secure a second hook in him, as he kept swimming under logs and diving deep in the water to shake them off.

Joey went into some detail on exactly what his role in this whole thing was and Theo did what he did best.

Here’s a little transcript of the conversation.

“J – I’d say when you hook up on him initially, you’re probably within 15 feet of the gator probably.

T- Dang, bro, I wouldn’t be there, buddy. I’d call a damn Uber, buddy, I would not be right there…

J – Kinda my job with all this, when I’m in the boat, we’ve got a snare

T – And what do you mean a snare? Like a drum?

J – Nah, not a drum, it’s kinda like a, I call it almost like a noose, you’ve got a rope on the end of it. You slip it over his head and when you do it I just pull that rope as hard as I can and basically try to sit down on the bottom of the boat.

T – So this some damn BDSM shit it sounds like kinda.

J – Haha, yes indeed, yes indeed.”

He goes on to explain how they’re able to reel the gator in when he inevitably needs to come up for air, that they need to shoot him to end the deal (Theo thought they might hop on their back and choke them out… Probably spending too much time with Bryce Mitchell), and the sense of relief they felt after 7 hours of battle.

He also said they donated the meat to a local organization that helps those in need, the total being around 380 pounds of delicious gator nuggets, and planned on getting some snazzy new boots made from the hide.

You can get the official story by checking out the write up we did when the news broke, but also be sure to give this interview clip a listen because it helps shine light on what it was actually like to bring that monster in, plus you’ll get quite a few good laughs from Theo’s commentary.
