We often times get caught up in the beauty of nature, that we tend forget that there can be a pretty brutal side of it.

It’s survival of the fittest, and we often see the much smaller creatures get overtaken by predators that are way too much of a match for them.

With that being said, here’s yet another perfect example.

When we think of orcas, we think of them gracefully leaping from the water, looking like majestic creatures from a distance.

Or we think of them like the movie Free Willy, and see them at water shows at an amusement park doing tricks through hoops and smiling for trainers.

However, we can’t forget that these creatures can also be fierce predators, and they aren’t nicknamed “killer” whales for nothing.

In this wild video footage, you can see a large group of orcas attacking a group of dolphins out in San Diego.

As you can see in the video, it truly gives you an appreciation for the size of these creatures, as they are much larger than the dolphins, and they are simply no match.

I know, I know. It’s a kinda brutal scene, but this is actually an important teaching moment for the younger orcas that are following along, because they are learning how to hunt down dolphins themselves.
