Not gonna be working at Pizza Hut much longer after that performance.
Nineteen year old Summer Rios is a manager for the pizza chain back in her hometown of Brunswick, Ohio. But this week during an appearance on America’s Got Talent, she showed off her seriously impressive voice – and great taste in music – that might just be her ticket out of making pizzas.
Summer admitted to the judges that she was nervous when she stepped out onto the stage:
“I haven’t really performed, so I’m trying to make music a thing and try to put myself out there and not have so much anxiety.”
But she says she hopes that singing gets her out from behind the counter at Pizza Hut:
“I’m working a lot of morning to closes, trying to still pay my bills and stuff, and I’m hoping that this will get me out of pizza cutting and pizza making.”
And she also had a hilarious message for her ex, who she used to work with:
“Hello. Hope you’re doing well, I guess? No, not really.”
Brutal. But once she breaks out into a killer performance of Zach Bryan‘s “Something In the Orange,” her ex might be calling her up again wanting to work things out…
The performance brought judges Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara to their feet, while Howie Mandel told her she should be singing instead of slicing pizza.
Vergara even told Rios that she sounds like she “swallowed Rihanna,” which I think is supposed to be a compliment despite being a weird way to put it?
Even notoriously brutal judge Simon Cowell had nothing but praise for Rios – and her song choice:
“What a great, great choice of song. I think every single person in this room wanted you to do well. We all like you.”
Obviously it was a unanimous decision to send Rios to the next round. And after her performance, she even earned some pretty high praise from Zach Bryan himself, who commented on America’s Got Talent‘s post on TikTok:
“You sang this so much more beautifully than I ever could, thank you and it’s yours now”
Yeah, I don’t think she’s going to be cutting pizzas for much longer.
