Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knows from experience how tough it can be getting started in life, which is why he often steps in now to help others out.
The WWE wrestler infamously once had only $7 dollars to his name after getting cut from a Canadian Football League team in 1995, and this UFC fighter’s similar story got the eye of “The Rock.”
Themba Gorimbo tweeted out a screenshot of his bank account recently of a $7.49 balance, and Johnson ended up sending back this response:
“This is f’n crazy to see and brings back many emotions and memories. $7.49 in this fighter’s bank account. I once had $7 bucks too. I’ve been there on that grind.
Got your back, brother. I’ll help. You got this. I’ll be in touch.”
So Dwayne decided to lay out something really special, and had Gorimbo doing an interview about the interaction they had on social media when he made it down to Miami.
As Gorimbo is speaking to the camera, Dwayne sneaks up behind him and finally reveals himself. The UFC fighter could barely believe his eyes, and quickly hugged “The Rock,” then saying:
“Thank you so much, man. I will become a champion, trust me. Trust me, you can shake my hand, I will become your champion. Thank you. Thank you so much.”
And that was without knowing the unbelievable surprise that Johnson had in store. Gorimbo showed “The Rock” around the gym, then up to where he slept in the building, all while Johnson was commending him for his hard work and dedication.
Dwayne then says that he wants to drive Themba to meet a friend of his in Miami that he felt like would be a good connection. Gorimbo happily agrees (how could you say no to The Rock?) and the pair get into a car and drive to the house of Johnson’s “friend.”
Once they get to the house, it becomes clear that no one is actually there, and the real kicker occurs when Gorimbo notices that all of the framed pictures in the house are of him and his family. That’s when Dwayne reveals that he bought the house for the UFC fighter:
“I was so moved by your story. When I found out you were sleeping on the couch in the gym … now there’s no more couch sleeping. This is your house. Welcome home!”
Now you can bring your kids here, man, your family. This place is yours. You don’t have to think about anything. The only thing you think about is your family, getting them over here, getting them with you, training, and becoming a champion.”
The moment is enough to almost make you cry. Dwayne Johnson’s willingness to help others was on full display, and Themba Gorimbo will forever be grateful for the generous, life-changing gift.

“Inspired by his story, his selflessness and his determination for greatness, Johnson flew down to Miami to meet Gorimbo in person. While Gorimbo thought that meeting was the surprise of a lifetime, as he would soon find out, a lot more was in store.”
