Country music fans were ecstatic when Chris Stapleton dropped “White Horse” last week, and the numbers behind the song’s release back that up.
The signature raw and powerful vocals of Stapleton, couple with his always impeccable songwriting has helped rocket the new single to 135 adds on country radio.
According to Country Aircheck, Mercury Records also benefited from the early success of the song, breaking a standing record that had been held since 1997, as well as being the first triple digit scorer since Shania Twain’s “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!” in 2002.
135 adds also marks the highest of Chris Stapleton’s illustrious career:
“White Horse” by Chris Stapleton is the most added song on Mediabase country with 135 adds on impact day. By far the biggest add day of Stapleton’s career.
Debuted at #31 on Mediabase country and should debut inside the top 25 on Billboard Country Airplay this Friday.”
The song was released as the first single ahead of Stapleton’s highly anticipated forthcoming album Higher, which is set to release on November 10th of this year. If the rest of the album is half as good as “White Horse,” country fans should be pretty happy with the talented vocalist’s 5th studio project.
Words can’t really describes how great the new track from Stapleton is, or how much hype it has given to the November release of Higher.
The song see’s Stapleton getting honest, saying that he isn’t the “cowboy type” to ride off into the sunset on a white horse looking for love.
The catchy chorus sings:
“If you want a cowboy on a white horse
Riding off into the sunset
If that’s the kinda love you wanna wait for
Hold on tight, girl, I ain’t there yet
No, I ain’t there yet
No, I ain’t there yet
White horse.”
And you’ve surely listened to “White Horse” by now, but just in case you haven’t, here is the link to the official audio video for the country radio hit:
