A very happy Friday, indeed.

Chris Stapleton just dropped a new heater called “White Horse,” the lead single from his forthcoming fifth studio album Higher that’s due out everywhere on November 10th.

The album’s 14-song tracklist will feature the recently performed “Crosswind,” as well as “It Takes A Woman,” a song that we saw Chris perform year more than 10 years ago.

He officially shared the news over on Instagram last night, in addition to confirming the album cover and tracklist:

“New album Higher out Nov 10. Pre-order the album and listen to the new single ‘White Horse’ via the link in bio.”

A co-write by Chris along with Dan Wilson, “White Horse” is right in Chris’ wheelhouse in terms of his country, bluesy sound that we all know and love, where he sings about running from love and how he’s certainly now cowboy who’s going to save this girl and ride off into the sunset with her.

Coupled with his distinct and powerful vocals, I think it’s a very strong way to kick off the new project:

“This love is getting kinda dangerous
Feels like it’s a loaded gun
My-my, it’s turning like a cloud of dust
My heart always wants to run

Oh-oh-oh-oh
If you want a cowboy on a white horse
Ridin’ off into the sunset
If that’s the kinda love you wanna wait for
Hold on tight, girl, I ain’t there yet
No, I ain’t there yet”

When I tell you I haven’t been this excited for a new record in a very long time, I mean it… we might just have an album of the year contender when it’s all said and done.

Chris simply does not miss:

Marking his 5th career studio album, Higher will follow up 2020’s Starting Over, as well as 2017’s From A Room Volumes 1 & 2, and the smash debut in 2015, Traveller. Stapleton’s breakout album, Traveller went 6 times Platinum and also won a Grammy for Best Country Album.

Back in 2013, he delivered a performance of “It Takes A Woman” at Nashville’s The Station Inn.
