Surprise.
Today, Zach Bryan released a new song called “Breakfast in Bed,” along with a video of the recording process which looks like it took place inside of a house somewhere at night, and is certainly reminiscent of some of those early videos he shared recording some of his first big hits.
He’s been busy in 2026, but has laid low on social media as of late (his social media accounts are inactive, which is probably for the best), but he did announce that he’s beginning his sobriety journey late in 2025, and he got married to Samantha Leonard on New Year’s Eve. Just two weeks later, he’d drop his long-awaited sixth studio album, With Heaven On Top, along with a full-length acoustic version of the record. With Heaven On Top would debut #1 on the all-genre Billboard 200, selling 130,00 units in its first week and charting 18/25 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
He’s been on tour this year as well, and tonight, he’ll headline a show in Liverpool, United Kingdom at Anfield Stadium, where I have to imagine he’ll play this new one for his European fans.
It finds him reflecting on how his own bad habits old him back, and even though he knows it, he can’t seem to make the changes he knows he needs:
“You’re only human, we all know it too,
Does that make your vices, a crutch or the truth,
They called you a sickness, an outright disease,
Does praying to your God make you hot in the cheeks?
So when you wake, when you get around come Sunday,
I’ll be halfway to the other side,
Beer here on Sundays is, breakfast in bed,
You ain’t, half the man that you are in your head,
How you ain’t,
Half the man that you are in your head,
You’re so damn alive boy,
But half way dead”
Of course, it’s backed with that signature, stripped-back, lo-fi production that he’s known for, and I’m sure fans will be excited to hear a new song that makes for a nice little Friday surprise.
