George Strait just announced six new stadium shows that are officially on the calendar for 2023.
The King just he’ll be hitting stadiums in Phoenix, Seattle, Denver, Milwaukee, Nashville and Tampa next year with the great Chris Stapleton, as well as Little Big Town, opening every show on this run.
It’s the most extensive run he’s been on since his two year The Cowboy Rides Away tour back in 2014, and he told Billboard that:
“It just felt right. I had the opportunity to work with Chris and Little Big Town and everything just kind of fell in place for next year.
I don’t do that many shows anymore, so if we can do a stadium where we can play for more people, that works for me.”
I mean, if The King calls you to open up a stadium show, I don’t think there’s any universe in which you can turn that down…
He’ll make a couple stops at venues he’s never previously played at in stadiums in Seattle and Milwaukee, as well as several other cities where he hasn’t performed in a long time.
George says that he keeps playing shows because it’s where he feels most at home:
“When I walk through those curtains and see those smiling faces, my feet don’t touch the ground again ‘til I walk back out and get on that bus that got me there.
That’s from a song I wrote called ‘I’ll Always Remember You.’ It’s a true statement.
When we talked about doing these six shows next year with Chris, it was a no brainer for me. I was all in.”
And of course, Chris feels the exact same way about playing with the country legend, adding:
“I love doing these shows with George about as much as I like doing anything. There’s nothing to compare it to.
So many of his songs are in the ethos of what country music is. Playing these shows together is a great experience all the way around.”
What a duo.
This will certainly be a can’t-miss show, so if you’re anywhere near any of these cities, or want to take a weekend trip, now’s certainly the time to do so.
George will make the trek with his longtime Ace in the Hole Band, and there is potential for more stadiums to be added as they get rolling next year.
