Reba McEntire Says This Era Of Her Life Might Be Her Best Yet: “I Don’t Think I’ve Ever Been Happier”

Reba McEntire is as happy she’s ever been.

At 71-years-old-young, the country music icon is pushing ahead with new music, a popular sitcom on NBC, wedding planning, and being a grandmother. You would think that 3-time Grammy winning artist would want to slow things down at some point, but one could argue that this is the busiest that Reba has been in the entirety (one might even say McEntirety) of her illustrious career.

The “Fancy” singer recently sat down with Woman’s World to talk all about all of the plates she currently has spinning. Her and Rex Linn are engaged to be married, Season 3 of Happy’s Place is nearing its premiere, and the country star is working on new music.

Music his still something Reba is very passionate about:

“I hope I can say to the fans, we’re still finding great songs that the songwriters have written, giving them total credit. The song—if it’s strong—it will be a strong song today and it will be a strong song 50 years from now. Good quality songs hold up. Just like a book, just like a plan or movie.

You can watch a movie from the ‘30s and sit there and cry or laugh because it’s a good movie. From the ‘60s or ‘70s, but if it’s not on the page, it can’t get on the stage. If you don’t learn it and put yourself into those words, you can’t perform it.”

I’ll have to remember “if it’s not on the page, it can’t get on stage.” That’s a good phrase to keep handy.

That seems to be one of the guiding mantras of Reba’s life. She continues at a full-steam-ahead pace with many things in her life, like her NBC sitcom that she’s starring in with Melissa Peterman (fans can’t get enough of that duo). McEntire loves the tight knight crew they have on Happy’s Place, and she’s excited for fans to see the third season.

It’s funny that her show is titled Happy’s Place, because Reba says this time in her life is likely the happiest she’s ever been. She’s got all kinds of exciting projects in the works, and she’s about to become a grandmother for the seventh time.

The country icon is grateful for everything in her life, and she’s doing her best to be where her feet are:

“I don’t think I’ve ever been happier. I feel grateful. I know myself better. I’m 71 years old. I’m healthy. I’m happy and thankful. I get to work at the level that I want to work at with people who are so much fun and talented.

When I go to work with the love of my life and step through those doors, it’s people with smiles on their faces. Nobody is in a bad mood and we know how blessed we are to get the job that we have. So I just take one day at a time and live in the present as much as I can and be grateful.”

I’ll speak for everyone when I say… if Reba is happy, the whole world is happy.
