The writer’s strike delayed season 2 of 1923will the actor’s strike further delay the end of Yellowstone?

The Writer’s Guild of America decided to go on strike May 2nd, halting production of numerous TV shows and movies, as well as late night daily shows. Negotiations have remained stalemated as it appears both sides are digging in their heels and holding firm on their stances.

But now another strike in the entertainment industry is underway as the SAG-AFRA actor’s union just announced they’re heading to the picket line.

Last night at midnight, the existing contract between the union and major studios expired after negotiations collapsed. Leaders of the union announced in a press conference they are officially going on strike after rank and file members overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike with 98% in favor.

The union represents over 160,000 film and TV actors, artists, journalists, and other professionals related to the field. It will be the first time the actor’s union goes on strike since 1980 and the first time that both writers and actors are striking simultaneously since 1960.

The first place my mind went to when hearing this news?

Yellowstone.

Fans were up in arms when internal conflicts lead to the second half of the final season getting delayed and we now find ourselves over 7 months removed from the latest episode of TV’s most popular showand that’s before this strike began.

So should we buckle up and expect an even longer wait before the new season picks up?

The short answer is yes.

While details on the opinions of the show’s actors haven’t been released, many of them are card holding members of SAG-AFRA, meaning that like it or not, they will not be working anytime soon.

To prove they are in the union, we can just take a look at an interview hosted by the SAG-AFRA Foundation, which gave the below statement in the video’s description to define itself.

“The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the most comprehensive, educational and state-of-the-art resources to SAG-AFTRA members.”

And who are the actors in this interview? Oh just Kevin Costner (John Dutton), Cole Hauser (Rip), Kelly Reilly (Beth), Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater), Wes Bentley (Jamie), and Kelsey Asbille (Monica).

So yeah, basically all of the main characters.

Going to be pretty hard to write a script with none of them in it…

They say good things come to those who wait, so let’s hope that’s true for whenever we get the rest of Yellowstone, because it’s going to be a hot minute.
