Happy Monday, y’all.

Today for the Song of the Week, we have a new one from Kat Hasty called “Why Do Good People Die.”

From her just-released Midland EP, it’s easily my favorite song on the tracklist and is a very honest look at her internal thoughts and how she finds herself questioning some of her life decisions, wondering if God is still guiding her and keeping her on the right path.

She sings about her young daughter growing up on the road traveling so she can pursue a music career, wondering if she’s chasing the wrong things and if she’ll know when to stop if it gets to be too much, and if she should just find a piece of land somewhere in Texas so they can settle and put roots down instead.

The song is of course a solo write by Kat, and is a shining example of her top-notch songwriting talent that, coupled with her pure, striking voice, is an abolsute stunner.

Definitely do yourself a favor and check out all the new tunes Kat just put out, and “Why Do Good People Die” is a perfect place to start:

“Why Do Good People Die”

“Midland”

“You Get Half”

Kat’s “Why Do Good People Die” is also featured on the Whiskey Riff New Music Friday Playlist, along with tons of other great new releases from this past week in country music.

Turn it up, tell your friends, and as always, make sure to subscribe to the official Whiskey Riff Channel for more great country music playlists.
