Yesterday, the NBA and pop music world went berserk at the news that Britney Spears had been slapped in the face by future NBA star Victor Wembanyama’s security guard.
Of course, everybody has at least heard of Britney Spears, the highly successful early 2000s pop star that has struggled with serious mental illness throughout the course of her life.
And if you haven’t heard of Wembanyama, he’s the 7-foot-4 inch French basketball star who was taken number one overall by the San Antonio Spurs this past NBA Draft.
Wembanyama was walking the strip in Las Vegas, when he was approached by none other than…
Britney Spears, believe it or not.
However, his security guard obviously didn’t recognize her, and slapped her straight across the face.
After the incident, Spears shared in a statement on social media:
“Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was not prepared for what happened to me last night.
It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. I am aware of the player’s statement where he mentions I ‘grabbed him from behind’ but I simply tapped his shoulder.
His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses to fall off my face.
Physical violence is happening too much in this world. Often behind closed doors, I stand with all the victims and my heart goes out to all of you!!!”
With that being said, we now have video evidence recovered by TMZ to prove that Spears was indeed slapped, and she didn’t appear to be in the wrong at all.
In the video, you can see Spears running up behind Wembanyama, yelling in a British accent (she’s from Louisiana):
“Sir, Sir!”
She reaches up to tap him on the shoulder, and that’s when the security guard slaps her.
Although the slap didn’t seem malicious, and it was just an attempt to keep her away, contact was indeed made – although it also appears that Britney may have actually slapped herself when security swatted her arm away.
Spears then yelled in a British accent again:
“That’s America for you. F*ck you all!”
… And again, Wembayama is French.
Man, poor Britney. The girl just can’t seem to catch a break.
