Made in America.

That’s how Troy Aikman is seeking to distinguish his beer, EIGHT, from some other beer brands this Fourth of July.

Of course the Hall of Fame former Dallas Cowboys quarterback didn’t name any other brands, but we all know who he’s talking about, right?

Bud Light has been taking a lot of heat lately for their partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. And the beer’s parent company, Anheuser Busch, is a historically American brand, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. But since 2008 the brand has been owned by AB InBev, a multinational brewing company based in Belgium.

But Aikman wants everybody to know that his beer is all-American: Owned and brewed right here in the United States.

In a new ad for his EIGHT beer posted this morning ahead of the 4th of July holiday, Aikman takes a shot at brands that celebrate the holiday by “slapping an American flag on their package” while actually being headquartered overseas:

“This weekend we celebrate the birth of our great nation. I am so proud to be an American and look forward to celebrating with good food, great friends, and of course ice cold beer.

At EIGHT, we believe in truth and authenticity. Our company is proudly based right here in Texas and all of our beer is brewed right here in the good ‘ol USA.

So I’ve gotta call it like it is. There are a lot of beer brands out there that are trying to cash in on this holiday by slapping an American flag on their package, regardless of whether or not they are truly American.

So this July 4th, drink American – whether it’s EIGHT beer or any other American owned beer brand. And on behalf of all of us out here, we appreciate your support. Cheers.”
