The Thomas Wesley era continues.

Diplo adding his EDM flare into the country music space is something I have loved since his first country music project, Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley: Chapter 1- Snake Oil.

Now, if you go into listening to any of Diplo’s “country” works, you can’t expect an album of honky tonk heaters. That is not his sound. It combines flavors of country music (especially in terms of the artists providing the vocals) with his electronic dance melodies.

The first portion of his country music exploration remained heavily pop, but chapter two of the project embodied the sound of the country today more wholeheartedly. There where even bits of folks and Americana in there.

Along with featuring some great talent within the space today, like Sierra Ferrell, Sturgill Simpson, Parker McCollum, and Koe Wetzel. These artists embody the different sound pockets of country music and represent a broader range of genre than Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen, which appeared in chapter one.

Last week during CMA fest, Elle King teased the potential of being the next artist to work with Diplo, posting:

“Some call it love, I call it country.”

Today they both confirmed the partnership for “Without You,” coming out next Friday.

Could this be the first single of chapter three?

Diplo also shares a snippet of the song at the end of the track announcements image carousel.
