Whiskey Riff Song Of The Week: “Rain on My Mind” By Paul Cauthen, Sierra Ferrell And Diplo

Jody Domingue/Alysse Gafkjen

Happy Monday, y’all.

Today for the Song of the Week, we have a new tune from Paul Cauthen and Sierra Ferrell called “Rain on My Mind.”

It was actually produced by EDM/pop producer Diplo for his new Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 – Swamp Savant project, but I’ve had it on repeat for the last couple days.

While the song certainly isn’t the most “country” thing either one of them have ever put out, it’s not at all what I expected in terms of the production being the polar opposite of some sort of EDM trap tune that you can fist-pump to all night long that Diplo is obviously used to producing.

“Rain on My Mind” is actaully very haunting and interesting, and Diplo did Paul and Sierra’s artistry and vocals justice. There’s something so captivating and beautiful about hearing them sing together, because they have such unique vocals as it is on their own already.

For me, it’s different in a good way, and if nothing else, refreshing to hear these two featured with an artist I don’t think I could’ve imagined before in Diplo.

Check it out if you haven’t heard it already, you might be pleasantly surprised:
