What a badass duo.

Ashley McBryde and Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale teamed up for a reimagined version of “Terrible Things,” which was featured on Halestorm’s 2022 studio album Back from the Dead.

Written by badass frontwoman Lzzy Hale along with Zac Malloy and Scott Stevens, the tune was originally featured with Lzzy’s solo vocals, as she sings about the dark world we live in and finding some semblance of hope even when it feels like that’s not possible.

Lzzy, longtime lead singer and guitarist for Halestorm (the band she co-founded with her brother Arejay Hale in 1997), calls Ashley “the baddest woman in Nashville,” and says she was thrilled to have her featured on this song:

“’Terrible Things’ is a song about hope and forgiveness of one’s self, and this world we live in. To elevate the heart of this track we asked the baddest woman in Nashville, Ashley McBryde, to lend her incredible voice.

I’m so in awe of her power and am so grateful to have her join us! I know the message will resonate and inspire you. We are imperfect beings, capable of so much evil. But I will not lose faith, because in my dreams I believe we are not these ‘Terrible Things.’”

And Ashley says she’s been a Halestorm fan forever, and thought it was a joke when her team told her Lzzy wanted to get her on the song.

She added that it was a no-brainer to team up with them for this project:

“I’ve loved Halestorm for longer than I can remember.

I thought my team was messing with me when they said Lzzy asked if I wanted to sing on ‘Terrible Things’ with them. But it turns out they were being serious, so of course I said yes.

I am so happy to be on this track with Lzzy. She’s a phenomenal human being and someone I continue to look up to.”

Their vocals compliment each other extremely well, and I’ve always loved that little bit of a rock and roll edge a lot of Ashely’s music has to it, so I hope this isn’t the last time these two collaborate.

I mean, how cool would it be to get Lzzy featured on a reimagined, super heavy metal, rock and roll version of song of Ashley’s like “Martha Divine”?

A girl can dream…
