Ryan Bingham Puts A New Twist On Kid Cudi’s 2010 Hit “Pursuit Of Happiness”

Ryan Bingham country music

Ryan Bingham covering Kid Cudi was not on my bingo card for 2023, but I am here for it.

I remember so vividly hearing Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness” for the first time as the intro song on MTV’s World Of Jenks TV series. I quickly ran to our family computer to Google the short snip of lyrics to identify the track.

The song has been a staple from Cudi’s 2009 debut album, Man On The Moon, and was released as the 3rd single from the album in 2010.

Ryan Bingham took to Instagram earlier this week to share his take on the tune. This is cover number 82 from Bingham’s Cantina Sessions, an at-home acoustic concert series that he started during the pandemic.

The causal clips often highlight his take on popular songs he shares on YouTube.

“Some Kid Cudi in the cantina…”

He shared on Instagram, teasing a clip of the song.

He delivers the lyrics with a raspy twang that has me convinced this song was not meant to be a rap song in a second life.

He takes his time delivering each word and draws out the last notes on the verses before going into the chorus. I could listen to him sing the chorus of this song all day.

Would not be upset if he chose to hit a studio to record this one day.
