Dierks Bentley Tips His Cap To Keith Whitley With Cover Of His Classic Hit “I’m No Stranger To The Rain”

Talk about a Keith Whitley classic.

Today, Dierks Bentley released his cover of Keith’s “I’m No Stranger to the Rain” as part of his Apple Music Sessions feature.

The song was written by Sonny Curtis and Ron Hellard, and released in January of 1989 as the fifth and final single from Keith’s classic Don’t Close Your Eyes album.

It was ultimately the last single released during Whitley’s lifetime as well, as he passed away a few months later on May 9th, 1989.

“I’m No Stranger to the Rain” still became one of his signature songs and a big hit, as it peaked at #1 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart later that year.

The song also won Single of the Year at the CMA Awards in 1989, after Whitley’s death, and it’s cool to see Dierks tipping his cap to one of the best to ever do it in this way.
