Back in March, a bunch of eyebrows were raised when Yellowstone’s biggest stars, such as Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, and more didn’t attend PaleyFest in Los Angeles, after their names were on the list.
And it’s not only that they didn’t attend, it’s that people at the show didn’t find out until the last minute that none of the show’s biggest stars would be in attendance.
Of course, many speculated that this was because of the uncertain future of the show, due to the rumor that there was a conflict in scheduling after Costner reportedly asked for only one week to film the second half of season five, and the star was exiting the show.
Now, we know that there is officially a Matthew McConaughey spinoff series in the works, and that Yellowstone will officially end after the second half of season five, when it was allegedly supposed to go on at least seven seasons.
But speaking of the stars’ head scratching absence at PaleyFest, one is finally speaking out about why she was unable to attend, and it’s Kelly Reilly… AKA Beth Dutton.
In a recent Instagram post, one fan asked Reilly:
“Question: why didn’t you show up at Paley Fest?”
Reilly then responded:
“I was filming in the UK at the time, and let them know in January I wouldn’t be able to attend. I was sorry to hear my name was still on the list of attendees, as it is unfair to our fans.”
However, that doesn’t seem to be what the people at PaleyFest were told, as another fan responded back:
“Very interesting. I just spoke to Paleys 2 days ago, and they said they were blindsided at the very last minute. I had paid $1,000 for a membership so that I could join the cast at the reception afterwards.
Luckily, I was able to get a refund. Thank you for responding to this post and explaining your side.”
So, who knows exactly what went down? Perhaps they left her on the bill to sell more tickets. Either way, the lack of communication seems to be pretty astounding for one of the biggest shows on television.
All of the main stars have been very vague, or straight up silent, about the future of the show, and perhaps they don’t know, but the end is definitely in sight.
Season 5 should be set to resume this fall, but in the meantime, check out the “Best of Beth Dutton.”
