Would be nice to see some more familiar faces when Dutton Ranch rolls around, eh?
Yellowstone fans are counting down the days until the latest Taylor Sheridan-spawned spinoff premieres on Paramount+. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser are set to reprise their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. The show, which has been described as “Yellowstone Season 6,” will finally premiere on May 15.
That’s just days away.
Reilly and Hauser have been on the media tour as of late promoting their spinoff, and during the premiere for the show earlier this week, the actress behind Beth Dutton spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the new cast members that are joining the Yellowstone universe:
“Everyone came with such passion and care, and they loved the original show. The mothership, I call it. That’s why they are all here. That’s why we have Annette (Bening) and that’s why we have Ed (Harris). It’s because they loved the show, and they wanted to be a part of it. We wanted them, and to create something new. It was lovely to have a new cast, even though I miss all the old cast.”
Bening is set to play a powerful owner of a major Texas ranch named Beulah Jackson. Ed Harris will be playing the role of Everett McKinney, who is described as a kind-hearted veteran who has hung up his guns for a more peaceful life. Australian actor Jai Courtney and country music singer Morgan Wade have also been announced as a part of the cast.
But notice that Reilly mentioned that she missed the old cast from Yellowstone. That led to a follow up question about who Beth Dutton wouldn’t mind to cross paths with again from her old life back in Montana. The Dutton Ranch star didn’t have to think long on that one at all. There were three names that immediately came to mind:
“I’d always say hello to Jennifer Landon any day of the week as Teeter. She’s a Texan. I think she should pop up. Then also, obviously Kayce Dutton, my brother. That would be fun. Everyone has asked if we would meet and I think that’s a great idea. Wes Bentley, obviously Jamie isn’t here, but Wes is one of my favorite actors and humans on planet Earth.”
There’s been a whole lot of speculation in regards to a Dutton Ranch-Marshals crossover. It certainly seems like a Beth and Kayce Dutton reunion is inevitable. As for the other names Kelly dropped, Jennifer Landon’s Teeter seems more likely. Wes Bentley’s character didn’t survive the final season of Yellowstone (spoiler alert), so if Jamie Dutton did pop back up, it’d have to be through flashbacks.
For now, Dutton Ranch should only feature three names that starred in the original, “mothership” series: Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser and Finn Little. But it seems like more of the Yellowstone family will come along at some point. After all, Reilly is one of the executive producers for the show… so if she wants some old faces to pop back up in the spinoff series, she could probably make that happen.
