Guy’s Impression Of Willie Nelson Singing “I Want It That Way” By The Backstreet Boys Is A Must-Watch

Levi Foster

Have you ever wondered what it would sound like if Willie Nelson sang one of the greatest pop songs of all time?

Thanks to musical impressionist and singer/songwriter Levi Foster, you don’t have to wonder. This man absolutely KILLS this Willie Nelson impersonation and even makes the all-time Backstreet Boys song sound like a country classic.

Levi Foster has “singer/songwriter” in his Instagram video, but based on this video, I might suggest that he changes it to “Full Time Touring Willie Nelson Impersonator.”

I think you could genuinely pack a venue with people who would love to listen to a full blown concert of hilariously well done pop songs in the style of Willie Nelson.

If he can do the Backstreet Boys with that kind of flawless execution, the sky is the limit for the “Willie Nelson pop covers” catalogue.

Imagine other transcendent pop songs being covered like:

-“Toxic” by Brittney Spears

-“Ms. Jackson” by OutKast

-“Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani

-“Umbrella” by Rihanna

If the talented Foster can do the Backstreet Boys, he can easily do those as well. Hell, he could even throw in a couple of Willie Nelson hits into the setlist if he wanted to.

The clip posted on Foster’s Instagram page is from a guest spot he had on the Big D & Bubba radio show in Nashville (he seems to be living in a great place to utilize this impression). He gets into the classic 1999 pop hit by the Backstreet Boys, and those in the studio can hardly believe how good it sounds.

I’m with them on that. Not only does it sound eerily close to Nelson’s vocals, but he also changes the pace of the song that allows it to stylistically pass as the “Blues Eyes Crying In The Rain” singer.

Both the radio hosts, and even Foster, laugh during the song at how ridiculous it is to hear the classic country singer’s voice being lent to a Backstreet Boys song, but if you just focus on it musically, I think I could listen to it all day long.

Take a listen:

If he doesn’t want to tour as a Willie Nelson impersonator, he could at least put out some full length covers. An album full of pop songs in the style of Willie Nelson would undoubtedly do well.

The comments below the talented impressionists’ post showed that his followers were loving it:

“Proof that lyrics are genre-less.”

“If I heard this without the video, there’d be no doubt in my mind this was Willie.”

“That ain’t backstreet boys, that’s back-country whipper-snappers.”

“Please release a whole album like this.”

I agree with all of those comments…especially the last one.
