Middle School Wrestler Sucker Punches Opponent In The Face After Losing

Man oh man, ya gotta hate sore losers.

We’ve all been upset or felt a brief period of sadness after a tough loss, whether it was in youth sports, high school, college, and for a lot of people, after watching the Dallas Cowboys lose in the second round of the playoffs for the billionth time in a row.

Of course, it’s just a game, but us sports fans and former athletes tend to get incredibly invested.

I myself have been frustrated after losing SEVERAL times, but when it comes to punching my opponent…

I can honestly say that never once crossed my mind.

But for this kid right here? He was pulling the trigger immediately.

It all went down at a youth sports wrestling match in Oak Park, Illinois, during a third place 125-128 pound match at the 2023 Beat the Streets Development FS tournament, according to TMZ.

In the video, you can see an eighth grader from SPAR Academy and his opponent closing out their match, when things went downhill QUICK.

The SPAR wrestler took home the W after defeating his opponent 14-2, and went to go shake hands with his opposition…

And proceeded to get punched square in the face.

We now know that the kid suffered a nose injury, and is currently having to wear a facemask in matches as it continues to heal.

SPAR Academy founder Justin Pearch told the outlet:

“He is making the best of the situation and is already back to training.

As you may know, wrestling matches can get heated but nothing leading up to the punch would give cause to such bad decision-making on the opponent’s part.

It’s not tolerated in our sport and SPAR wrestling will never condone that behavior.”

The Oak Park Police announced that the incident is being investigated, and the parents of both wrestlers are cooperating.

Just a tough scene all around.
