A New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel Following Aegon The Conqueror Could Be On The Way

Breaking News: show that made a ton of money for HBO will basically continue with show based on original show.

We’ve already seen a spin-off of the cultural phenomenon Game of Thrones with last year’s new HBO hit House of the Dragon. It shouldn’t come as much surprise that HBO will continue to “squeeze the juice” out of the plentiful fruit known as Game of Thrones with a new prequel that is now actively being developed.

Granted they don’t do it at nearly the pace Star Wars or Yellowstone has done, but don’t expect HBO to leave money on the table.

According to Variety, the new spin-off would be set 300 years before the Game of Thrones storyline and would:

“Tell the story of how Aegon and his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their army and their three dragons to conquer six of the seven kingdoms on Westeros with the exception of Dorne.

In doing so, Aegon I became the first king of Westeros, the first to sit on the Iron Throne, and the founder of the Targaryen Dynasty.”

The project is still in extremely early stages, but for Game of Thrones fans, it is a good sign that the announcement has slowly but surely been made. Due to the “Aegon focused” prequel being in early development, there is no writer attached to the project as of right now.

They are reportedly working to get the show into development as soon as possible, and even teased that there could be a feature film that leads into the series itself.

However, HBO has declined to comment.

Game of Thrones fans have been bought in from the get go, and the idea of this new series has drawn a positive response on social media, and even a couple of fan idea’s for casting:

Hopefully the new spinoff can live up to the standard that Game of Thrones set (minus the last season).

If the story of the new Aegon project isn’t as good, maybe it can at least try to surpass the banger of a theme song Game of Thrones had:
