Sierra Ferrell Covers The Daylights Out Of Dolly Parton’s “Old Flame (Can’t Hold A Candle To You)”

Sierra Ferrell Country Music

How have I not seen this video sooner? I mean, at this point, what can’t Sierra Ferrell cover well?

Her ability to adapt to other artists’ sound while still putting her own twist on tunes is phenomenal.

This version of Dolly Parton’s iconic “Old Flames (Can’t Hold A Candle To You)” might be one of my new favorites.

This song is a staple on my playlist, and I honestly play the fire out of it. Heartbreak, regret, missing someone who played a significant role in your life; this song covers all the emotions nearly every 20-something-year-old girl has experienced at some point.

Of course, it is by the great Dolly Parton, so no wonder I’m going to have this song in heavy rotation.

Ferrell’s version of this song is nearly heavenly.

“Please forgive me, Dolly, if I mess up your words.”

She addressed the crowd at FloydFest back in 2022.

The tune’s melody is highly stripped down, allowing Ferrell’s soothing vocals to highlight the intention behind the words.

It’s simple and beautiful.

You love to see an old meets new moment with this cover and many other great covers Ferrell has done previously.
