My heart is pounding…
A Los Angeles area hiker came face to face with one of North America’s top predators while out for a hike early last year and put on a masterclass for how to handle yourself in a potential deadly situation.
He appeared to be out for a nice little walk near a beautiful lake when he noticed some noises coming from behind him.
Low and behold, it was a mountain lion, who snuck within striking distance without the man noticing and began lunging forward with apparently fatal intentions.
But the hiker kept it together, stood his ground and began screaming at the cat, even letting loose a primal roar that stopped the attack and scared the lion off.
“I was stalked by a mountain lion so I ran up on and scared it away with a roar at the last minute.”
Talk about a moment you never want to experience for yourself.
One second you’re staring at the great scenery of the Land of Milk and Honey, the next you’re in pure fight mode against a more than capable predator.
Good on this guy, and just more proof to always keep your head on a swivel.
