Diggin’ deep into the Sturgill Simpson vault for this one.
While browsing through the deep vault of Whiskey Riff content (over 26,000 blogs here), I just happened to stumble upon this extremely rare track from Sturgill’s Bastard Children EP.
Only the real OGs know, but the two-track EP was released on his now defunct Bandcamp page shortly after Sturgill’s debut album High Top Mountain was released in June of 2013.
I reckon the title, Bastard Children, implies that these were songs that didn’t make the record, but either way, if you’re looking to hear the old timey Sturgill right now, this might be quite the pleasant surprise.
The two songs, “Four Flame Candle,” and “Hey Joe” are pretty damn hard to find anywhere else on the internet.
