One of the most inspiring stories to come out of the NFL in quite awhile has been watching the country rally around Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin after the scary scene from this past week’s Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati, when Damar suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field.

The Bills safety had to be revived on the field, and was then transported to the hospital.

The game was postponed and ultimately canceled by the NFL, and as the prayers have poured in from all over, millions of dollars have been donated to Damar’s charity to raise money to buy toys for underprivileged children.

Damar has now been taking off of the ventilator and is breathing on his own, and reportedly suffered no neurological damage.

And yesterday he shared his first statement since being taken to the hospital in an Instagram post:

“When you put real love out into the world it comes back to you 3x’s as much. The love has been overwhelming, but I’m thankful for every single person that prayed for me and reached out.

We brung the world back together behind this. If you know me you know this only gone make me stronger. On a long road keep praying for me!”

The Bills are back in action taking on the Patriots today, the first time they’ve taken the field since the terrifying incident. And they took the field with an incredible tribute to their teammate, running out of the tunnel carrying #3 flags for Damar:

And while Damar can’t physically be with his team today, he shared an Instagram photo of himself from his hospital room to let them know that he’s there in spirit.

And Damar is already liking what he’s seeing as his team rises up in his honor: The Bills returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and sent the crowd Buffalo into a frenzy.

Bills by a million today.
