Tracy Lawrence, Brandy Clark & More Get You Into The Holiday Spirit With Christmas Campfire Sessions

Tracy Lawrence country music

It’s Christmas week y’all.

If you’re anything like me, you’re blaring your favorite Christmas tunes all through the house and hopefully getting ready to fill your space or seeing those you love.

Now, Christmas songs are a tricky line because you have the greats and the classics, and then you have some people who think they just came up with the next big holiday hit….and it’s a flop.

And, if there is one thing we hate here at Whiskey Riff, it’s sh**ty Christmas music.

CMT Campfire Sessions just dropped a ton of video clips from their Christmas Special, and the lineup is pretty dang good. Some performances stand out a little more than others and get you in the holiday spirit from the jump.

Here are my top picks from a slew of Christmas tunes that were sung.

Brandy Clark singing “Merry Christmas Darling.” Clark has an unreal vocal range, and this performance is spot on. The holiday love song sounds angelic coming from her.

“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” performed by Clay Walker.

The upbeat yet light melodies his band puts out adds a great layer to the song. I especially love the addition of the fiddle to this tune. Is it really the holidays if you don’t play this tune a few times?

Tracy Lawrence performing “Winter Wonderland.”

Another classic that is hard not to make you smile. Lawrence is supported by his fiddle player with some phenomenal harmonies, and he kills the vocals. The slight twang in his voice gives a slight country flare to this classic tune while keeping all of the aspects that make this song a classic.

Old Crow Medicine Show adds some bluegrass flare to “Christmas Time’s A Comin’.”

This tune makes you want to tap your foot and sing along with an upbeat tempo and lots of harmonies that make for an upbeat and joyful melody.

And although this was not included in the Christmas special, I think Elle Kings’ “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” deserves to be on this list.

Her unique sound gives the classic tune so much dimension. It’s great. I have had this video on repeat over the last few days.

We wish everyone a happy holiday from all of us here at Whiskey Riff! If you are looking to add to your ultimate holiday playlist, be sure to check out our Country Christmas Songs That Don’t Suck playlist.
