Twitter Calls Out Troy Aikman For Subtle “Mass Shooter” Joke While Talking About Tampa Bay’s Cannons

Last night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints squared off in an absolute thriller (eventually), with the Bucs winning the game in the final seconds, 17-16.

However, the Bucs’ come from behind win may not have been the wildest part of last night’s game…

We all know Troy Aikman as the Hall of Fame quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, and now Monday Night Football commentator.

In the booth, the guy is known for being pretty blunt with his words, always telling it like it is.

Hell, Aikman took a ton of heat after he said the NFL needs to “take the dresses off” after a terrible roughing the passer penalty was thrown on Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones while he was sacking Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr in the most basic way possible.

Aikman said in the booth:

“My hope is that the competition committee looks at this in the next set of meetings and we take the dresses off.”

Needless to say, he took a ton of heat for that comment on social media, with some going as far as to call him a “misogynist.”

And now, he’s in hot water again.

Fellow commentator Joe Buck made a comment about how the Bucs fans fire the cannons on the fake pirate ship they have in the stadium.

That’s when Aikman may have made a subtle “mass shooter” joke, saying:

“Somebody needs to tell ’em it’s 2022, I mean you can’t be doing that stuff anymore.”

Joe Buck, obviously getting the statement, uncomfortably responds:

“2nd down and five… lets move on.”

Needless to say, Twitter wasn’t too thrilled about the comment:

How about Tom Brady though?
