George Strait To Headline 2023 Buckeye Country Superfest With Chris Stapleton At Ohio Stadium

I can’t get enough of this duo.

After King George previously announced six stadium shows with Chris Stapleton in 2023, and added a second one in Nashville at Nissan stadium due to overwhelming demand (and will potentially add more dates in other cities in the coming months), they’re headed to Buckeye Country Superfest for another stadium show next year.

It was just announced that the duo will head to Ohio Stadium on May 27th to perform to what I can only imagine will be a sell out crowd of over 63,000 fans, with Little Big Town and Warren Zeiders being part of the lineup, as well.

They’re also set to hit what will likely be more sold-out stadiums in Phoenix, Seattle, Denver, Milwaukee, Nashville and Tampa next year, making it the most extensive run George Strait has been on since his two year The Cowboy Rides Away tour back in 2014, and he told Billboard that:

“It just felt right. I had the opportunity to work with Chris and Little Big Town and everything just kind of fell in place for next year.

I don’t do that many shows anymore, so if we can do a stadium where we can play for more people, that works for me.”

In a previous interview about their upcoming shows together, George added that being on stage is where he feels most at home:

“When I walk through those curtains and see those smiling faces, my feet don’t touch the ground again ‘til I walk back out and get on that bus that got me there.

That’s from a song I wrote called ‘I’ll Always Remember You.’ It’s a true statement.

When we talked about doing these six shows next year with Chris, it was a no brainer for me. I was all in.”

And of course, Chris feels the exact same way about playing with the country legend, adding:

“I love doing these shows with George about as much as I like doing anything. There’s nothing to compare it to.

So many of his songs are in the ethos of what country music is. Playing these shows together is a great experience all the way around.”

They also hinted at potentially doing a song or “something together,” and I’m still holding out for a collaboration sometime next year.

I mean, that’s pretty much a need at this point, right? What a pair…

Tickets for Buckeye Country Superfest go on sale this Saturday, November 19th, at 10 a.m.
