Make that seven…
George Strait is adding a second show date to his stop in Music City for his six-stadium run with Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town that’s slated for 2023.
The second Nissan Stadium show will take place on Friday, July 28th, joining the initial date of Saturday, July 29th.
In addition to the two Nashville shows, The King will also be hitting stadiums in Phoenix, Seattle, Denver, Milwaukee and Tampa next year with the aforementioned openers.
He’ll make a couple stops at venues he’s never previously played at in stadiums in Seattle and Milwaukee, as well as several other cities where he hasn’t performed in a long time.
It’s the most extensive run he’s been on since his two year The Cowboy Rides Away tour back in 2014, and he told Billboard that:
“It just felt right. I had the opportunity to work with Chris and Little Big Town and everything just kind of fell in place for next year.
I don’t do that many shows anymore, so if we can do a stadium where we can play for more people, that works for me.”
George says that he keeps playing shows because it’s where he feels most at home:
“When I walk through those curtains and see those smiling faces, my feet don’t touch the ground again ‘til I walk back out and get on that bus that got me there.
That’s from a song I wrote called ‘I’ll Always Remember You.’ It’s a true statement.
When we talked about doing these six shows next year with Chris, it was a no brainer for me. I was all in.”
And of course, Chris feels the exact same way about playing with the country legend, adding:
“I love doing these shows with George about as much as I like doing anything. There’s nothing to compare it to.
So many of his songs are in the ethos of what country music is. Playing these shows together is a great experience all the way around.”
What a duo.
This will certainly be a can’t-miss show, so if you’re anywhere near any of these cities, or want to take a weekend trip, now’s certainly the time to do so.
George will make the trek with his longtime Ace in the Hole Band, and there is potential for more stadiums to be added as they get rolling next year.
Regular ticket sales start on November 4th, and it’s pretty obvious they’re not gonna last long…
These two sharing the stage is always a sight to see:
